Absorption
Absorption
Also available in gold: a shimmering absorber with copper cable soldered on.

In the Absorber the sun's radiation is absorbed by a liquid or gas and thus converted into heat. The energy from this heat is then circulated through the Solar Heating System to the storage tank or other water storage device. A Selective Coating of black chrome, black nickel, or black crystal reduces radiation heat losses: the short-wave sunlight passes through to the bottom of the absorber, while the longer wavelength heat radiation, which the absorber gives off to its surroundings, is kept at a minimum. Absorbers with selective coatings exhibit heat radiation losses of 10 to 40%. When colors like gold or blue are used for selective coatings, then the Efficiency will be slightly reduced.
