PV power plant "Lieberose", 53 megawatt peak (MWp)

Abbreviation for megawatt peak, a measuring unit for the maximum output of a photovoltaic power plant for example. One MWp = 1.000 kilowatt peak (kWp).

So far the maximum output of PV panels and arrays has been typically amounted in kilowatt peak. Since more and more utility-scale PV plants have been connected to the grid within the last years, MWp has become a common unit.
