Hankook Silicon achieves 3,200 MTY polysilicon production at Yesou, Korea plant

- HKS' polysilicon plant
Hankook Silicon Company Ltd. (HKS, Seoul, South Korea) has achieved nameplate capacity of 3,200 metric tons per year (MTY) with the first phase of its polysilicon production plant in Yeosu, Korea, according to an April 11th, 2011 statement by Poly Plant Project Inc. (Burbank, California, U.S.).
Additionally, Hankook has also signed a long-term agreement to supply Neo Solar Power Corporation (Hsinchu City, Taiwan) with 11,000 metric tons of polysilicon.
"This plant puts HKS on track to meet our goals of being a key global polysilicon producer," said HKS Chairman and CEO Soon-Kwang Youn. "We are very pleased to have chosen Poly Plant Project, Inc. as our partners."
"PPP has provided our company with an advanced package of engineering, process technology, key equipment and services that enabled our plant to produce high-purity polysilicon and our plant to reach nameplate capacity in a very short period of time."
HKS aims to reach 14,500 MTY by 2013
The HKS polysilicon plant produces 7-9 (99.99999%) pure polysilicon for silicon wafer manufacturers. The company aims to produce 14,500 MTY by 2013, following the completion of subsequent phases of the plant.
The first phase of the plant uses an advanced Siemens process technology. Poly Plant Project supplied process technology and basic engineering packages for the plant, as well as chemical vapor deposition reactors and STC-to-TCS thermal converters.
