On December 21st, 2011, Solar Energy World (Elkridge, Maryland, US) reported that it doubled its revenues in 2011 and added 40 jobs to the local economy. Solar Energy World on own account is the region's leading installer of commercial and residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar hot water systems.

The company installed more than 300 solar electric and solar hot water systems in 2011, more than double what was installed in 2010, Solar Energy World reports. Going into 2012, the company is seeking to double that figure again.

Solar Energy World believes that solar industry in the U.S. and worldwide is growing very fast. According to the company, consumers are realizing the long-term benefits of solar energy systems.

"Recent economic uncertainty has done little to quell the growth of solar energy," the company states. The Solar Energy Industries Association reports that the solar industry is the fastest-growing industry in America and in the second quarter of 2011, the U.S. solar photovoltaic (PV) market installed 314 MW, 69% more than the same period last year and 17% more than first quarter of 2011.

"More and more consumers are recognizing that solar panel systems can put money directly into their pockets," CEO Tope Lala said. "We are excited to show the residents and businesses of Maryland and the mid-Atlantic the many benefits, and affordability, of solar energy."
