CPS Energy, OCI Solar to develop a 400 MW PV project in Texas

- OCI Solar Power’s Delsea Road project (Vineland, New Jersey) will be operational in January 2012
On January 11th, 2012 OCI Solar Power LLC (Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.) announced a partnership with CPS Energy (San Antonio, Texas, U.S.) to enter into negotiations on the development of a 400 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project comprising several individual plants.
OCI Solar will begin construction of the first PV plant in 2013, and plans to build additional facilities through 2016, subject to power purchase agreements. The company states that the project will also involve more than USD 100 million in capital projects and the creation of more than 800 jobs in the region.
"OCI Solar Power is proud to enter negotiations with CPS Energy to potentially partner on its goal of creating a solar energy manufacturing and development hub in San Antonio," said OCI Solar Power Board Chairman Kirk Milling.
"The project will also create a new standard and model for communities working to build their sustainable energy resources. Combining this effort with capital investment and economic development creates a winning combination for both the city and region."
OCI Solar to relocate to San Antonio
OCI Solar will also relocate its headquarters and Engineering and Operations Center to San Antonio, Texas. OCI Solar is a subsidiary of OCI Company Ltd. (Seoul, South Korea).
