Great American Group LLC (Woodland Hills, California, U.S.) has announced that it will hold an online auction of solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing equipment and PV modules previously owned by Solon Corporation (Tucson, Arizona, U.S.) on January 23rd, 2012.

The PV modules up for auction were manufactured between 2008 and 2009. Additionally, the company will auction two 2009 Swiss Solar Systems Model 3S laminators, each with an annual production capacity of up to 100 MW, a 2008 REIS Robotics Automated Framing Module, three REIS Axis Robots and a REIS Framing Station.

"With the global demand for high-quality solar processing equipment increasing, we expect a large amount of national and international interest in this online auction," stated Roy Gamityan.

Solon phase-out of U.S. PV production followed by insolvency of parent company

Solon Corporation announced a new operations strategy for the United States in August 2011, which included phasing out its PV module manufacturing operations in Tucson, Arizona, U.S. in October 2011.

Four months later on December 13th, 2011 Solon Corporation parent company SOLON SE (Berlin, Germany) applied to open insolvency proceedings.

Great American Group worked with Fab-Finder Inc. (Roseville, California, U.S.) to purchase and prepare the items for auction. More information on the auction is available on Great American's website at www.greatamerican.com.
