Satcon enters PV inverter sales, marketing, and manufacturing agreements with Chinese Great Wall Computer Company

- Satcon will deliver 60 MW of its PowerGate Plus solutions to Great Wall through the agreement
On February 7th, 2012 Satcon Technology Corporation (Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.) announced a five-year sales, marketing and distribution partnership with Great Wall Computer Company Ltd. (Shenzhen, China). The agreement includes the delivery of roughly 60 MW of Satcon PowerGate Plus solutions by April 2012 for Great Wall solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in China.
Additionally, the companies have entered into a contract manufacturing agreement whereby Great Wall will support efforts by Satcon and contract manufacturer Excelstor Technology Ltd. (Shenzhen, China) to reduce costs through design and supply chain improvements.
"As the worldwide solar market continues to develop, the focus on both inverter performance and costs have intensified," said Satcon CEO Steve Rhoades.
"The Great Wall partnership significantly strengthens our company, accelerates our cost reduction efforts and opens up a sizable opportunity above and beyond our recent success in the China market."
State-owned companies to develop majority of utility-scale PV
Great Wall is a subsidiary of China Electronics Corporation (Beijing, China), a state-owned entity. Satcon states that the partnership will position it to access a share of the 14 GW of utility-scale PV projects under development in China, the majority of which it expects to be developed by state-owned companies.
