UniSource Energy launches program to sell solar energy blocks to Arizona customers
On February 6th, 2012, UniSource Energy Services (Tucson, Arizona, U.S.) announced that it has unveiled a new program that allows electric customers to buy solar energy directly from two recently completed solar photovoltaic (PV) generating systems in Mohave County, Ariz.
Customers can buy 1,720 solar blocks through new program
The company’s Bright Arizona Community Solar program will sell a total of 1.7 megawatt (MW) from two solar energy systems directly to customers. Beginning in February, 2012 energy from the arrays will be available to the company’s electric customers in 150 kilowatt-hour (kWh) blocks that will add USD 3 apiece to monthly bills. For 2012, the company offers 1,720 blocks of solar energy from these two solar systems.
UniSource Energy completed a 1.22-MW single-axis tracking photovoltaic (PV) array at La Senita Elementary School in Kingman. The array was built by SOLON Corp. (Tucson, Ariz.) and features more than 5,000 solar panels. The company also completed a 500-kW solar array as part of Western Wind Energy’s integrated wind and solar system southwest of Kingman.
UniSource Energy Services is a subsidiary of UniSource Energy Corp. (Tucson, Arizona, U.S.).
