Trina Solar's Changzhou Testing Center wins UL certification

- Trina notes that it is the first PV company to achieve UL CTDP certification
Trina Solar Ltd. (Changzhou, China) has been awarded Client Test Data Program (CTDP) certification from Underwriters Laboratories (UL, Northbrook, Illinois, U.S.).
This enables its Changzhou PV Testing Center to independently conduct testing programs and to issue UL-recognized test data without the on-site presence of UL engineers. The company notes that it is the first solar photovoltaic (PV) company to be awarded this distinction, which goes further than the Witness Test Data Program.
"Trina Solar's collaboration with UL will further the quality and reliability of our products," stated Trina Solar SVP and Module Business Unit President Zhiguo Zhu.
"Being the first PV company to receive the CTDP certification is an important milestone in the development of Trina Solar. It affirms that our testing staff, standards and capabilities are of the highest caliber in the PV industry."
In conjunction with the certification, UL and Trina Solar have signed a framework agreement to strengthen collaboration.
Testing center tests to IEC 61215, 61730, UL1703
Trina Solar's test area comprises an area of over 7,000 square meters, and supports product certification, material reliability testing, highly accelerated aging tests, and a range of test material evaluation and research.
Testing capabilities cover standards including IEC61215, IEC 61730 and UL1703, which simulate stresses in the natural environment and examine the ability of PV products to withstand and maintain performance in extreme weather conditions.
