DEGERenergie GmbH (Horb am Necker, Germany) has announced that it will supply tracking technology to a 2 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Kazakhstan. The plant in Kapchagay, Almaty Province is the first utility-scale PV plant in Kazakhstan.

Deger will deliver 61 Degertracker 9000NT units to Bisol Group doo (Prebold, Slovakia), which is responsible for planning, construction and installation of the PV plant. Bisol plans to commission the plant by the end of 2012.

Plant to feature Bisol PV modules

The plant is considered a demonstration project, and consists of a 1.4 MW ground-mounted portion and a 600 kilowatt (kW) portion which will incorporate the tracking systems. Both portions will feature Bisol monocrystalline solar photovoltaic modules.

Energy provider Samruk-Energo AO (Astana, Kazakhstan) commissioned the plant, which it owns and will operate. The company states that it intends to increase the share of "green" energy in the nation's energy mix to 11% by 2030.
