Revenues in Kyocera Corporation's (Kyoto, Japan) Applied Ceramics Group, which includes its solar photovoltaic (PV) business, increased 2.3% to EUR to USD 1.49 billion in the nine months ending December 31st, 2012.

The company credits growth in its solar energy business, and notes that operating profit for this division increased. While PV demand was focused in Japan, European PV sales actually fell.

"Demand for solar power generation systems increased rapidly in the solar energy market in Japan due to the introduction of the feed-in tariff for renewable energy in July 2012," notes Kyocera.

 

Kyocera expects solar sales to boom during current quarter

In the final three months of Kyocera's fiscal year which ends on March 31st, 2013, the company anticipates sales in its solar energy business to grow "significantly".

Overall, Kyocera sales grew 4.6% in the first three quarters of FY ending on March 31st, 2013 to USD 10.1 billion, with an operating margin of 5.5% and a net income attributable to shareholders of USD 491 million.
