OCI Solar Power (San Antonio, Texas, US) has begun construction of the first 41 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in its 400 MW project for the City of San Antonio in the US state of Texas.
OCI expects the Alamo 1 plant on Blue Wing Road to be complete by the end of 2013, and to build the rest of the 400 MW through 2016. A groundbreaking for the plant will be held in early March 2013.
"We’re looking forward to continuing our work with the San Antonio community," said OCI Solar Power President Tony Dorazio. "The development of each phase of the project gets us closer and closer to bringing clean, renewable energy to homes and businesses throughout the area."
Municipal utility CPS Energy (San Antonio, Texas, US) will buy the electricity from the entire 400 MW project including the Alamo 1 plant through a 25-year power purchase agreement.
