Cencorp will build PV module factory in Finland

- Cencorp acquired Sunweb's PV module business in January 2013
Cencorp Corporation (Virkkala, Finland) has chosen Mikkeli, Finland as the location of its fully automated solar photovoltaic (PV) module factory.
The company expects to complete the plant by early 2014. The Suur-Savo Energy Fund has supported the facility with a grant of EUR 600,000 (USD 790,000).
"Cencorp’s transition into a technology company specializing in Cleantech applications proceeds as planned," stated Cencorp CEO Iikka Savisalo.
"I am very pleased that an investor like Suur-Savo Energy Fund who understands energy technologies and their potential has decided to give funding for Cencorp’s solar module business."
Plant to be based on Sunweb assets, Cencorp automation
In January 2013 Cencorp acquired Sunweb Solar Energy Holding BV's (Geldorp, The Netherlands) PV module business and related production line. The company also acquired the Sunweb trademark, patents and intellectual property, which it says will be the basis of its new endeavor.
The new plant will incorporate Cencorp's engineering and automation expertise. Cencorp expects the factory to have an output of 500,000 modules annually, and is planning on demonstrating automation applications to Chinese PV module manufacturers to secure production line orders.
