On February 14th, 2013, Fluor Corp. (Irving, Texas, US) announced that it has received a notice-to-proceed from Centinela Solar Energy LLC for phase two of the 170-megawatt (MW) Centinela solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Southern California.

Fluor is providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the Centinela plant.

The Centinela project, located on about 2,100 acres 90 miles east of San Diego, has secured all major permits. The PV plant will be one of the first major projects to tie into the newly-constructed Sunrise Powerlink Transmission Line.

Centinela Solar Energy has closed financing for both phases of the project and has executed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the entire power output from the facility. The project is expected to achieve full commercial operation by the middle of 2014.

Centinela Solar Energy is a member of LS Power Group.
