EnergyTrend: Japanese solar PV market developing specific product preferences

- EnergyTrend reports that resistance to PID and strong snow load ratings are important in the Japanese market
TrendForce's (Taipei City, Taiwan) EnergyTrend division reports that the Japanese solar photovoltaic (PV) market is developing a unique set of preferences for product qualities, as seen at the recent PV Expo in Tokyo.
EnergyTrend notes that PID resistance is the most emphasized quality, and that the ability to bear heavy snow loads is also a strong selling point. Furthermore, the company notes that common product specifications are being adopted in the Japanese market, with additional specifications for the local market becoming more common.
“According to related cell manufacturers, although PID Free was first proposed by European countries, it has been most greatly developed in the Japanese market,” notes EnergyTrend.
“On the other hand, anti-snow load is also common among the industries at the exhibition; due to the recent extreme weather in northern Japan and Hokkaido, this has impressed the local customers even more.”
