Martifer Solar (Oliveira de Frades, Portugal) has completed two solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Spain totaling 4.26 MW, for which it supplied engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services.

Martifer Solar will also supply operations and maintenance services for the 3.8 MW PV project in Lorca, Murcia region and a 460 kW rooftop PV plant in Toledo.

“These projects reflect the excellent work that Martifer Solar always carried out in Spain, the country where we have already installed 60 MW,” said Martifer Solar Spain Chief Operating Officer Jesus Pacheco.

“Although this is a mature market, which has been facing many changes in the sector regulation, we still deserve the trust of our customers and partners, being known for our experience and quality, in every business segment.”

Spain's PV market has shrunk considerably following the suspension of the nation's feed-in tariff, however due to the high price of electricity plants continue to be built on a “grid-parity” model.

New plants add to 60 MW previously installed

The Lorca plant consists of 15,800 modules on 4.5 hectares, which are installed on Mprime PV trackers, Smartracker technology. The Toledo plant comprises 1,800 modules on fixed structures, covering 7,500 square meters on the roof of Prilux Group facilities.

Martifer Solar had previously installed 60 MW of PV plants in the nation.
