Sunovia hires Art Buckland as CEO

- Sunovia is developing a scalable solar CPV tracking system that will be compatible with either a III-V or II-VI solar wafer
On August 30th, 2010, Sunovia Energy Technologies, Inc. (Sarasota, Florida, United States), a clean-tech company specializing in LED lighting and solar technologies, announced that semiconductor and energy industry veteran Art Buckland will join the company as CEO, replacing outgoing CEO and continuing Chairman of the Board Carl Smith. Buckland brings decades of experience serving on company boards and in CEO and CFO positions, as well as having raised over USD$175 million in private and public funds while starting nine companies. He will begin his term as CEO on September 7, 2010. "I have spent my career developing and growing companies within the semiconductor and related systems markets, and the incredible potential of Sunovia's proprietary technologies and products is very clear", stated Mr. Buckland. "I expect to grow Sunovia efficiently and effectively to realize the tremendous value that has already been created in EvoLucia, and look forward to the challenge of realizing the value in our solar initiative soon after that."
Buckland credited with work on smart meter development
Mr. Buckland is credited with early work on the development of smart meters in the 1980's, and has been a member of the management team at four energy companies: Schlumberger Ltd. (Houston, Texas, US), Enertec Power Solutions (Albany, New Zealand), Solartron Energy Systems Inc. (Amherst, Canada) and Soliant Energy Inc. (Monrovia, California, US), where he recently spent two years.
