SOLPOWER AG, a German system integrator and planning company in the photovoltaic industry, has committed itself to the acceptance and recycling of returned photovoltaic modules free of charge. SOLPOWER AG is a member of PV CYCLE (www.pvcycle.org), a European initiative with headquarters in Brussels in cooperation with the European Commission. As a part of this task force, the solar company supports the concept of polluting the environment as little as possible in the disposal and recycling of photovoltaic plants and improving the reuse of increasingly valuable components of the modules. The company also advocates the development and implementation of environmentally friendly PV technologies with as high as possible a proportion of reusable materials. In spring 2009, the practical implementation of the module return is scheduled to begin.

The plan is to build up a comprehensive network of collection points and intermediate storage facilities before the modules are processed in the recycling plants, which are to be located a maximum of 400 kilometres from the end users.

Establishing an enduring PV life cycle management

Thus far 25 leading solar companies from all over the world are represented in PV CYCLE. However, SOLPOWER AG up to now is the only system integrator and PV plant constructor focusing on end users which supports the initiative, the company emphasizes. Through its extensive network of tradespeople and partners, the solar company can directly promote its goal of building up a comprehensive recycling system for modules. "We want to establish an enduring life cycle management in the industry from the production to the customer. Through our activity with PV CYCLE, we are committed to a functional EC-wide return system which makes efficient and economically sensible management of the PV plants possible", said Chairman Emanuel Senz.

With the voluntary initiative for building up a recycling system, SOLPOWER AG is assuming a leading role in the German market as a PV plant constructor and offers its customers the certainty of environmentally friendly disposal of PV plants.
