Taking advantage of the "photoelectric effect", Borealis Technical Limited uses special, low-work funcion (LWF) materials to create a new type of solar generator. As photons impact the emitter electrode, electrons are by consequence emitted and travel to the collector electrode thus creating a potential difference. Borealis has done extensive research into low work function materials whose use in their photoelectric devices enable substantial emission to occur without the aid of concentrators. These photoelectrics chips (photon chips tm) are readily mass producable and very modular, facilitating economical production.
