Hanwha SolarOne (Shanghai, China) has opened its first office in the Israeli market in Modiin, near Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, appointing Eran Kopel sales and marketing director for the nation.

The company also announced that it will showcase its polycrystalline silicon SF220 and SF260 solar photovoltaic (PV) modules at the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference in Eilat, Israel from November 27th-29th, 2012.

"Israel is a very promising market for the PV industry and an important market for Hanwha SolarOne," said Hanwha SolarOne Managing Director Justin Lee. "Due to its sunny climate, which provides approximately 1,800 kWh a year, grid parity is just around the corner."

"With Hanwha Group’s strong financial backing, we are ideally positioned to become a key driver in developing Israel’s solar power potential and will take a leading role in utility-scale projects."

Prior to joining Hanwha SolarOne Kopel managed sales and marketing for SunPower Corporation (San Jose, California, U.S.) in Israel and lead project development at Israeli engineering procurement and construction contractor Inbar.
