Councils in the English counties of Norfolk and Suffolk have voted to approve four solar photovoltaic (PV) projects totaling 50 MW planned by Solar Century Holdings Ltd. (London, UK).

On December 17th, 2012 Breckland Council in Norfolk voted to approve 38 MW at three sites, and Waveney Council in Suffolk has also voted to approve a 12.3 MW PV plant near Halesworth. Solarcentury plans to develop, design, build, operate and maintain PV plants at these four sites.

"When the right sites are selected, solar is a very attractive technology," stated Solarcentury CEO Frans van den Heuvel.

Solarcentury states that the sites are selected for their minimal visual impact and the proximity of grid connection.
