Kyocera (Kyoto, Japan) has partnered with Prosol Invest Deutschland GmbH (Wildpoldsreid, Germany) to market an “intelligent” lithium ion battery-based storage system to accompany residential-scale solar photvoltaic (PV) generation.

Prosol's Sun Battery is available in six sizes from 4.6 – 41 kWh, with maximum output of 2.4 – 18 kW depending on the size. The battery includes a “smart function” to automatically activate appliances via remote control when excess electricity is available, and can be controlled by mobile app.

“It is our great pleasure to have acquired Prosol as a reliable partner with a long history of experience and outstanding technical expertise,” said Kyocera's European President Shigeru Koyama.

“Just like Kyocera, Prosol is dedicated to quality. Together, we want to expand the boundaries of progress in the field of renewable energies with our customized and intelligent solutions.”

The Sun Battery was first launched in the German market at the beginning of 2011.
