Third Blockchain-Tag in Berlin

“The blockchain not only offers exciting options as a payment method and accounting instrument for energy consumers, it also has what it takes to revolutionize the way people in the industry think, making it more democratic”, says Karl-Heinz Remmers, Chairman of the Board of the event organizer Solarpraxis AG. The tremendous potential that digitalization holds for the energy industry will take center stage at the Konferenz Digitale Energiewelt organized by Solarpraxis Neue Energiewelt AG.

The conference will be held on September 5-6, 2017 in Berlin. The first day is dedicated to the blockchain, while the second day focuses on artificial intelligence, big data and cyber security in the energy industry.

Blockchain-Tag is being held for the third time and has been integrated into the Konferenz Digitale Energiewelt for the first time this year. The strong interest in the blockchain is a natural consequence of the many possibilities that this technology opens up, notes Karl-Heinz Remmers, Chairman of the Board of the event organizer Solarpraxis AG: “The blockchain not only offers exciting options as a payment method and accounting instrument for energy consumers, it also has what it takes to revolutionize the way people in the industry think, making it more democratic.”

In a variety of presentations and panel discussions, participants will learn about the necessary basic conditions for blockchain and potential business models that utilize this technology to achieve real advances in the digitalization of the energy world.

The panel discussion on “Blockchain currencies in the energy industry” will be moderated by Sven Wagenknecht of BTC-ECHO, who sees decentralization as a key advantage: “Attempting to connect the energy world brings with it many major challenges. Blockchain technology can be used to develop infrastructure that moves decentralization from a concept to a technological reality, thereby overcoming these challenges.”

On the second day of the conference, participants will learn about data-based business models for renewable energies and new fields, such as artificial intelligence. Participants can look forward to the Energy Start-Up Networking Event, where young companies will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and strike up conversations with investors and energy companies.

Konferenz Digitale Energiewelt 2017 is being hosted by Vattenfall in Berlin-Mitte.
