ADB supports ReNew Power solar PV projects in India totaling 398 MW


As part of its efforts to scale up private sector-led infrastructure development in Asia and the Pacific and boost support for clean energy, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a new USD 390 million financing package for ReNew Power to develop renewable energy projects in India. With the financing, ReNew Power will develop solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with combined capacity of 398 megawatts (MW) in Jharkhand and Telangana, and wind power projects with combined capacity of 311 MW in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. NEA: China added 34.24 GW of solar PV capacity in 2016


On January 16th, 2017 China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) officially released its solar photovoltaic (PV) installation figures for the entire year 2016, Asia Europe Clean Energy (Solar) Advisory Co. Mercom Capital: Total corporate funding in solar sector dropped by 64 percent in 2016


Mercom Capital Group, LLC (Austin, Texas, U.S.) on January 10th, 2017 released its report on funding and merger and acquisition (M&A) activity for the solar sector in 2016. Total global corporate funding in the solar sector, including venture capital/private equity (VC), debt financing, and public market financing, raised by public companies came to USD 9.1 billion, compared to USD 25.3 billion in 2015, a 64 percent drop. Bridge to India: India's solar PV market expected to grow by 90% in 2017


According to consultancy services provider Bridge to India (Delhi), India starts the year 2017 with a pipeline of around 14 GW of utility-scale solar PV projects, out of which 7.7 GW is expected to be commissioned in the year (growth of around 90% over 2016). Combined with 1.1 GW of expected rooftop solar capacity, India should add a total of 8.8 GW in 2017, ranking it amongst the top three global markets after China and the USA, Bridge to India expects.
